Tories win Quebec byelection, retake Nova Scotia (in Federal Politics)

Stephen Harper and his Conservative Party were the big winners on Monday, claiming two of four byelections, including a rural Quebec riding that favoured the Bloc Québécois.

The upset came in Montmagny-L’Islet-Kamouraska-Rivière-du-Loup, where Conservative Bernard Généreux elbowed out Bloc Québécois candidate Nancy Gagnon.

The Bloc and the New Democratic Party won one riding each. The Liberals were shut out. Read more …
